About Personae
Talk to anyone. Be anyone. Personae is a place to meet characters that answer back — and to build the ones you wish existed.
What it is
Every character here has a voice, a history and a way of holding a scene. You can talk to the ones other people have made, or make your own: a name, a temperament, a few lines about who they are, and they are ready to meet someone.
Chats are yours. They save to your account, remember what you have told them, and pick up where you left them.
How the replies are made
Replies come from a large language model. By default that is the model Personae runs and pays for. You can also bring your own API key in Settings, in which case chats run on your provider and your account — and for most providers the key stays in your browser and never reaches our server at all.
What it is not
The characters are fiction. They are not people, not therapists, and not experts. They will get things wrong with total confidence, which is worth remembering before taking one at its word.
