Privacy Policy
What Personae stores, where it goes, and what never leaves your browser.
The formal policy has not been published yet. Rather than post unreviewed boilerplate, here is a plain description of what the product does with data today — accurate, but not a substitute for the reviewed document that has to replace it.
Your account and chats
Signing in creates an account holding your email, your profile, and your plan. Chats and the characters you create are saved to it so they survive a page reload and follow you between devices.
You can browse and chat as a guest. Guest chats live in your browser and are not attached to any account.
Your own API key
A key you add in Settings is stored in your browser, not on our server. For OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini and OpenRouter, chats go straight from your browser to the provider — the key and the conversation never touch Personae at all.
OpenCode Zen is the exception, and the settings page says so where you add the key: Zen refuses requests made from a web page, so those chats are forwarded by our server. The key and the message are passed straight through and held only for the length of that one request — neither is stored, and neither is written to any log.
Moderation records
When a message is refused for breaking the rules in the Safety Center, a short excerpt is recorded along with the reason. That is what makes review possible and repeat patterns visible. It is an excerpt, deliberately — not a copy of everything that was refused.
Deleting your data
Deleting your account removes your profile, your characters and your chats. Removing your API key from Settings erases it from your browser immediately.
